Moon Township Municipal Authority Recognized by
Allegheny County for 11th Consecutive Year
Moon Township Municipal Authority (MTMA) has received its 11th consecutive certificate of commendation from the Allegheny County Health Department for an exemplary compliance record in 2005.
"The Directors and employees of the Moon Township Municipal Authority (MTMA) are very proud to have received Certificates of Recognition from the Allegheny County Health Department and the PA Department of Environmental Protection for each year since 1995," said MTMA General Manager John Riley. "The MTMA will continue its commitment to provide a reliable, adequate supply of excellent quality drinking water at the lowest possible long-term cost to customers."
Recognition from the County Health Department was based on MTMA's ability to operate in compliance with all water quality, treatment, and monitoring requirements, properly dispose of water treatment plant wastes, and for implementing an approved Operation and Maintenance Plan, Emergency Response Plan and Cross-Connection Control Program.
The DEP also recognized MTMA for its system's ability to have met all maximum contaminant levels, monitoring and performance level requirements.
MTMA's clients include 7,657 Moon Township water service customers, 8,761 sewage service customers in Moon, Crescent and South Heights, and 6,870 solid waste Moon residential customers.
The Authority also provides water and sewer services to the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve bases, wholesale water service to portions of North Fayette and Findlay Townships, and wholesale sewer service to major areas of Robinson, North Fayette and Findlay Townships. MTMA maintains over 170 miles of sanitary sewer and over 170 miles of water mains.
MTMA is managed by a seven-person Board of Directors each serving a five-year term and is staffed by approximately 35 employees. |
