Dye Test/Lien Letter Request
Please note that a minimum of 14 days’ advance notice is required for all downspout inspection requests. Once your request is received, an MTMA inspector will visit your property to perform the dye test. Homeowner is not required to be present.
If the property does not meet MTMA requirements, our inspector or office staff will contact the realtor or closing company that submitted the request. Corrective actions must then be completed, and the MTMA inspector must verify the corrections before the property can be sold.
New Construction
Newly built homes do not require a dye test prior to their first sale. However, if the property is sold more than two years after construction, a dye test will be required at that time.
Vacant Lots
Dye tests are only performed on properties with a structure. Vacant lots do not require testing. If you are unsure whether a test is needed, please call our office for guidance.
Multiple Structures or Accounts
Some properties have multiple structures or utility accounts. If you have any questions about a specific property, please contact our office so we can assist you.
Payment Instructions
When requesting both a municipal lien letter and a downspout inspection, please provide two separate checks made payable to MTMA or Moon Township Municipal Authority.
- We do not accept credit/debit card payments over the phone.
- Separate checks are necessary in case the property has already passed inspection within the past two years.
- If a dye test is not required, the check for the dye test will be returned.
